Lawrence ArtWalk 2004

What started in 1995 as a self-guided, downtown walking tour of a handful of galleries and artistsí studios has grown to include more than 100 visual artists. Lawrence ArtWalk 2004 - the 10th annual self-guided tour of Lawrence artistsí studios and other art spaces - will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24. Additionally, the Fall Downtown Gallery Walk will feature galleries on Friday evening, October 22.

ArtWalk is a fabulous opportunity to discover some of the wonderful artwork created by many of Lawrence and Douglas County's talented visual artists, to meet them in their creative work environments, and to purchase locally produced art. Several Lawrence artists' studios not normally accessible to the general public will be opened especially for the ArtWalk, and many artists will offer special demonstrations of their craft. Guidebooks and guide maps will be available in advance in early September.

This year's events will include a preview exhibition of participating artists' work, as well as a retrospective display of promotional artifacts from the event's first nine years. Watch for information about the preview exhibition and accompanying public reception.

Registration by May 1 guarantees inclusion in all promotional materials and announcements. Registration by July 1 guarantees inclusion in newspaper marketing only.
