Dear Parents,

Thank you for your interest in the Lawrence Arts Center Preschool. We know that choosing a preschool is an important decision, as you want to start your child’s education on the right track. Don’t panic. It is not a Harvard versus Yale decision. The fact that you are concerned means your child will be in good hands no matter which preschool you choose. Here is some information to make your choice easier.

Lawrence Arts Center Preschool is nationally recognized as a leader in Arts-Based Education. At the Lawrence Arts Center, we understand that children learn more and learn faster in a creative environment. Our approach to preschool prepares children for academics in elementary school while encouraging the development of your child’s unique skills and interests.

The Lawrence Arts Center Preschool uses an innovative, arts-based teaching structure that is focused on developing your child’s natural interest in learning. Arts-based curriculum encourages children to invent and create, test new ideas, challenge themselves and practice solving problems in a classroom environment. In an arts-based learning environment, children develop confidence in their abilities and become comfortable trying new things. Our focus is to lay the foundation for a life-long passion for learning.

In addition to the full-time teaching staff, children have the opportunity to work with professional artists in a variety of fields. Preschool students attend performances and rehearsals with professional performing artists, and regularly work with artists in the visual arts. Working with professional musicians, dancers, ceramicists, sculptors, painters and actors encourages children to envision the pursuit of excellence and creativity. Our guest artists set a diverse example of goal oriented people who pursue their dreams.

An educational environment that incorporates all learning styles instills self-awareness, intellectual confidence and a love of learning which lasts a lifetime. Physical and mental freedom stimulates a child’s growth and ability to learn. At this age, children don’t like to sit too long. The Lawrence Arts Center’s classrooms are organized around young children’s natural need to move and be active while learning. Daily, children have the opportunity to experience indoor and outdoor play, field trips, walking trips, parachute play, games and other creative movement activities. Custom-designed, imaginative learning centers alternate to encourage in-depth exploration and inspire play. All aspects of our classrooms are thoughtfully chosen to promote the development of the whole child.

Children must be three years of age before September 1, 2012. We offer several other classes each semester for 2 & 3 year olds. We will accept a limited number of children who turn 3 years of age in September or October 2012 for our Tuesday/Thursday morning class only. All children must be fully toilet trained.

Thank you,
Linda
